I have failed Ranbir Kapoor:Anurag Kashyap opens up like never before

Anurag Kashyap has garnered lot praise for his villainy act in Akira. However, things weren’t this sunny when the director tasted a flop with Bombay Velvet and even today holds himself responsible for letting Ranbir down.

Notably, Ranbir has also worked with Anurag’s brother Abhinav in Besharam, which also failed at the box office.

Talking about the flak the actor faced post the movies, the 43-year-old filmmaker said, “I think we, as a team, have let him down in many ways. Ranbir is a fantastic artist, a brilliant human being and an actor who wanted to try out something different. He wanted to experiment which not many stars would want to do. And we failed him terribly. I feel completely responsible for this. “

Anurag further added, “Not just him, now when I hear studios shutting, I somewhere feel that I am definitely one of the reasons behind it. When the stories come up and there’s Bombay Velvet’s poster right at the top of the article, it does hurt.“
