Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Honest Movie Review

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Honest Movie Review

Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is finally released after a huge criticism by some political parties for featuring Pakistani actors in it. I said 'actors' because there were not just Fawad Khan, but also Imran Abbas in it and both are one of the prominent Pakistani actors. Anyhow, movie released having both of them in the film. Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt makes a guest appearance in the film too and share the screen for a few minutes only.

Movie is about 2 hour and 28 minutes long, and is basically a romantic drama, just like other films of Karan Johar. Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai are in lead roles however Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka shared the most of screen time in the film.

Story

You can skip this part as it summarizes the whole movie and it may spoil your interest in the film if you have not watched it.

ADHM is story of a wanna-be singer who has a rich dad but wants to do something for himself rather than just joining his father's business. He meets Anushka Sharma at a night club in London where they try to have romance after first sight (quite a western thing), movie goes on and they become sort of friends who want to stay together but don't want to fall in love with each other. Both have their BF/GF and but their relationship does not work with them. Anushka decides to visit Paris and convinces Ranbir to visit with him and he agrees. There in Paris she sees the guy (Fawad Khan) whom she loved crazily in past, so she lefts Ranbir Kapoor for Fawad Khan here. Anushka and Fawad gets married. Ranbir Kapoor meanwhile meets Aishwarya Rai (who plays a poetess and a divorcee) and they both starts dating each other while sharing their past-love stories.

Story moves gradually. One fine day, Ranbir calls Anushka Sharma and invites her at home. Anushka meets Aishwarya, Aishwarya get to know Ranbir stills loves Anushka so she leaves Ranbir for that reason. Ranbir now have the real pain that he thinks is necessary to become a good singer, and now finally he becomes a sensational singer. While on a concert, he meets Fawad Khan (who plays the role of a DJ in the film) who tells him that Anushka has left him 2 years ago.

Now Ranbir starts finding Anushka Sharma and does not take long as he knows where he can find her. Both finally see each other again, but Anushka Sharma now is a cancer patient. Both share compassion for each other, but Anushka still doesn't love him and friendzones him until the movie ends and she becomes a little dramatic for him.

Direction

Karan Johar did a good job as he is already one of the finest directors in the industry. Most of the film is shot indoor, there a few outdoor shoot scenes too however most of the films seems like being shot inside rooms, clubs etc. But in totality, it a was a good direction by Karan Johar.

Acting
Ranbir Kapoor who plays the lead role and shares the most of the time on screen did a fine job. Same goes with Anushka Sharma. However, Aishwarya Rai sounds more like Jodha Akbar she hardly says a normal line in her dialogues and almost all of her dialogues are poetry-oriented and deep life quotes, but of course Aishwarya looked absolutely beautiful in the film. Fawad Khan hardly appeared for 5 to 10 minutes in the film didn't had many dialogues so it comment on his part. Overall, movie had a good casting.

Music

Music is composed by Pritam and two of his songs for the film did an amazing job. Movie's title song 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' that is sung by Arjit Singh, was an instant hit and credit goes to everyone behind the song including Arjit Singh's soulful voice, Pritam's beautiful composition and Amitabh Bhattacharya's soulful lyrics. Another song 'Bulleya' also went viral as singers Amit Mishra and Shilpa Rao did a fab job. Movie had four more tracks who were more of situational songs. All in all, music did a great job for the film in terms of marketing, and listeners got some good tracks out of this film.

VFX, Editing and Marketing
Movie had normal visual effects that normally necessary for every film. Censor board had cut many romantic scenes of Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma as well as some bold dialogues too. It can be easily felt where the editing went wrong at one or two scenes where it becomes a little difficult to understand what is exactly happening in the scenes.

The makers did a good marketing for the film. The leading stars except Fawad Khan appeared at many events and TV shows to promote the film.
